Stating Claims and Evidence
In expert-level debate, you must go beyond simply voicing an opinion and logically connect a clear claim to the evidence that supports it. This lesson covers expressions for presenting your position effectively in formal debate settings.
Opening a Claim
To open a claim, use expressions that are more assertive and logical than the basic "I think." Common patterns include "~λΌλ μ μ λΆλͺ ν νκ³ μ ν©λλ€" (I wish to make clear that...) and "~λΌλ μ μ₯μ λλ€" (My position is that...).
Linking Evidence
After stating a claim, use connectors such as "κ·Έ κ·Όκ±°λ‘" (as evidence for this), "μ΄λ₯Ό λ·λ°μΉ¨νλ μ¬λ‘λ‘" (as a case supporting this), and "~λΌλ μ¬μ€μ΄ μ΄λ₯Ό μ¦λͺ ν©λλ€" (the fact that... proves this) to make the logical flow explicit.
Adverbs that Reinforce a Claim
Adverbs like "λΆλͺ ν" (clearly), "λͺ λ°±ν" (evidently), and "λ¨μΈμ»¨λ" (I can assert that) add conviction to a claim. Use them only when your evidence is solid, or you risk losing credibility.
| Expression | Usage |
|---|---|
| ~λΌλ μ μ₯μ λλ€ | Assertive claim |
| κ·Έ κ·Όκ±°λ‘ / μ΄λ₯Ό λ·λ°μΉ¨νμ¬ | Introducing evidence |
| ~λΌλ μ μ κ°μ‘°νκ³ μΆμ΅λλ€ | Emphasizing a point |
| ~λΌλ μ¬μ€μ΄ μ΄λ₯Ό μ¦λͺ ν©λλ€ | Factual proof |
| λ¨μΈμ»¨λ / λΆλͺ ν | Asserting conviction |
| λ°λΌμ ~λΌκ³ κ²°λ‘ λ΄λ¦΄ μ μμ΅λλ€ | Drawing a conclusion |
π‘ Tip: The causal link between claim and evidence must always be clear. The "μλνλ©΄ ~κΈ° λλ¬Έμ λλ€" (this is because...) structure keeps your logic transparent.
Finally, close a claim with "λ°λΌμ ~λΌκ³ κ²°λ‘ λ΄λ¦΄ μ μμ΅λλ€" (therefore, we can conclude that...) to leave the audience with a clear impression.
